Terms of Use

1. About these terms

These terms apply to the BakeZone Academy website, the student portal and the BakeZone Academy mobile app (the “Services”), provided by BakeZone Academy (Pvt) Ltd (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Services you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Services.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data. Course-specific rules (schedules, practical classes, materials) are explained on each course page and in What to expect & policies.

2. Your account

• Give accurate details and keep them up to date — your name is printed on certificates as you provide it.
• Your account is personal. Don't share your student ID or password, and don't let anyone else watch lessons through your account.
• For security and to protect course content, an account can be signed in on one phone at a time. If you change phones, ask the academy to reset your device.
• You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
• You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or as described at bakezoneacademy.com/delete-account.

3. Course access

• Access to a course, workshop or tutorial is granted by the academy once you are enrolled, and lasts for the period shown for that course.
• If a course is paid in installments, access to the whole course pauses while an installment is overdue and returns when it is settled.
• The academy may pause or end access if these terms are broken, for example if course content is shared or recorded.
• Schedules, instructors and content may change from time to time; we'll tell you about significant changes.

Fees and payments

Course fees, installment plans and any refund terms are set by the academy and confirmed to you when you enrol. Fees are paid to the academy directly (for example by bank transfer or at the academy). The iPhone app does not sell courses or content; it gives enrolled students access to what the academy has granted them.

4. Course content and intellectual property

All lessons, videos, recipes, notes, exams and other materials are owned by BakeZone Academy or its instructors and are licensed to you for your personal, non-commercial learning only.

You must not:

• record, screenshot, download (except where the app offers it), copy, share, sell or publish course content
• remove or hide the student ID watermark shown on videos
• use the Services to build a competing course or resell our materials

5. Acceptable use

• Be respectful in live classes, lesson Q&A and messages to staff.
• Don't post anything unlawful, abusive, misleading or that infringes someone else's rights.
• Don't try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or get around the security of the Services.
• Exams and quizzes must be your own work.

6. Certificates

Certificates and transcripts are issued by the academy when you meet a course’s completion requirements. Each one can be verified online. The academy may correct or withdraw a certificate issued in error or obtained by breaking these terms.

7. Third-party services

Live classes run on Zoom, some videos play through YouTube, and messages may be sent through WhatsApp. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren’t responsible for them.

8. Disclaimers and liability

We work hard to keep the Services available and accurate, but they are provided “as is” and may sometimes be interrupted. Baking involves heat, sharp tools and allergens — follow safe kitchen practice and check ingredients for allergies when you try recipes.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the fees you paid us for the course concerned. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

9. Mobile app terms (Apple and Google)

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the following also applies:

• These terms are between you and BakeZone Academy only, not Apple or Google. We, not Apple or Google, are responsible for the app and its content.
• You get a non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store or Google Play usage rules.
• Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; contact us instead.
• If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the app's purchase price (if any). To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
• If a third party claims the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
• You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as content ownership and liability) continue after your account ends.

11. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; we’ll change the “Last updated” date and tell you about significant changes in the app or by message. These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have jurisdiction over any dispute.
